Commercial Trucking school coming to Duck Hill – Winona Times

A new commercial trucking school is coming to Duck Hill. Jada Green first presented the idea to the Town of Duck Hill Board of Aldermen a few months ago, and the idea was well-received. Now, the plans are going from conception to execution.

Green said the school, Commercial Trucking of Duck Hill, is set to open later in the fall. “It’ll be either in October or November. We want to help people,” Green said. She said it doesn’t matter if you’re a felon, it’s for men and women, and there is training. She said trucks will be available on site.

She said there’s currently a trucking dispatching company, LottaBurt Logistics, in Duck Hill. “We’ll help train you for dispatching, and you can do it all at home. All you have to do is have Internet access. We’ll set you up with everything,” Green said

Green works as a broker and said she’s done so for more than 10 years. She said she’s also worked with the Chamber of Commerce in Biloxi, and her goal is to help bring businesses to the Duck Hill and Winona area.

She said the trucking school is going to be merged with a trade school that she already has in operation. Green said this isn’t just going to be a school where drivers are educated on what to do, the goal is to better the entire student as a whole.

“We will do job placement, training, we’ll do dispatch if someone wants to learn that, if they want to open up their own business, we will work on their business profile,” Green said. “Some places just educate, but if you don’t know how to talk, how to dress, how to handle an issue, if you have anger management issues, if you have road rage, you’re not going to make it.”

Green said the trucking school will also teach those that attend how to control their road rage, anger and how to handle things in high pressure situations. She said they want to focus on bettering the person.

“If you don’t have morals, if you don’t have integrity, people are not going to hire you,” she said.

For those who may want to go back to school but don’t have the transportation, Green said it will be provided. She said daycare will be provided also.
